The Ulster County Clerk’s Office acts as custodian of the records for Ulster County. The office oversees records dating back to 1658 including deeds, mortgages, judgments, liens, maps, and court records. Yearly, hundreds of people search, file and record land records, legal documents, and court papers in the office.The County Clerk’s Office also manages and maintains the Ulster County Archives and the Matthewis Persen House Museum and Cultural Heritage Center. The mission of the Archives is to identify, store, preserve, arrange and describe the archival records of the Ulster County government and to provide access, outreach and public programs to the people of Ulster County. The Persen House serves as Ulster County’s Heritage Gateway, offering cultural and heritage groups the opportunity to share their treasure troves of history and culture with visitors.
